Yellow Humpy ( AKA Horner Deer Hair Fly ). There is some dispute over the exact origins of the Humpy. Some claim it was originated in West Virginia and others claim it is from California. Jack Horner used this pattern fishing Hat Creek and it remains a popular pattern through out the Sierras. Joe Messinger of Morganstown, WVA also tied a similar pattern in the 1920’s. The yellow floss was added by western tyers using the Royal Coachman influence. It remains one of the most effective patterns. Ideal for fishing Sulpher hatches in Pa, NY and the Northeast.
