Description
Morus Silks Superfine, Gossamer silk is back!
Pearsalls’ closed in 2013 and the remainder of the company was acquired by Morus Silk. While it is not an exact replacement, the colors, texture and material is nearly identical to the original.
Pearsall’s originally created the first standardized fly tying silk with the introduction of Pearsalls Gossamer. This well known thread has been the standard to which all other silk threads have been measured since 1916 with the publishing of Edmonds and Lee’s Brook and River Trouting. After Pearsall’s closed in 2013, the product was produced by Langley silk for a number of years. After only a few years, Langley Silk also closed. Upon closure of Langley threads Gossamer went off the market completely and what looked to be permanently. Morus Silks of Liversedge UK accquired the rights to gossamer and began the task of recreating Gossamer. Morus used its knowledge of silk and custom dying processes and industry experience to make Gossamer in its original colors and quality. The New Gossamer silk is spooled on the same small 45m bobbins that have become signature to this thread. All of the original colors from Pearsall’s have become available and were reintroduced to the market.
After the product became available, issues retaliated to Covid caused many problems with the supply chain. As of the present I have only the colors available as listed in a very limited supply. As more colors become available, I will add them as I can. We are hopeful that the supply chain issues can be resolved and that we can offer the complete line again.
Effective 3/25/23, there is no stock left of this item. As far as we know Morus has some dye issues and isn’t shipping. We have no idea when stock will be available. We suggest using 54 Dean Street, it is a very close replacement. You can email us for more info.
